Cron Generator

Build a Cron Expression

Cron Expression

Or Parse an Existing Expression

Uses standard 5-field cron syntax: minute hour day-of-month month day-of-week. This tool works entirely in your browser.

Build cron expressions with a simple form, or paste an existing expression and read it in plain English. Includes presets for common schedules like every 5 minutes, hourly, and daily.

Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the five fields in a cron expression mean?

From left to right: minute (0–59), hour (0–23), day of month (1–31), month (1–12), and day of week (0–6, where 0 is Sunday). For example, 30 2 * * * runs at 02:30 every day.

What does */5 * * * * mean?

It means "every 5 minutes". The step syntax */N means "every N units", so */5 in the minute field runs when the minute is divisible by 5: at 0, 5, 10, 15 minutes past the hour, and so on.

Why does my cron job run every day instead of every week?

In standard cron, if both the day-of-month and day-of-week fields are restricted (not *), the job runs when either field matches — they are combined with OR, not AND. To avoid surprises, leave one of the two fields as *.
